Abstract
With the installation of a new church dedicated at the Saints John and Paul (1263), in piace of a smallest and oldest one attested by sources and archaeological evidences, the newly established municipality of Muggia wanted to give a largest and most prestigious piace of worship than the former one, as reflection of the renewed civic consciousness and of the new regime of autonomy. Over the years, the Duomo inherited the parish of the church of St. Mary de Castro Muglae and went enriching furnishings and decors of Venetian Gothic and Baroque taste
